One of the most things I enjoy eating are steamed dumplings, it’s simple and it’s mostly pork. Surely everyone has spoken about the famous Din Tai Fung located in World Square before, so I think it would be a good idea to write on one of my visits.

This place is more expensive than other shanghai restaurants in Sydney but i guess you’re paying for the ridiculous amount of waitresses, location and the deco. Unlike Camy Shanghai Melbourne, we had dumplings thrown to the table with wedding music in the background (Celine Dion – My heart will go on)

Xiao Long Bao (Steamed Pork Dumlings) 9/10

The famous steamed pork dumplings, never fails on me. The proper way of eating it, is to dip it with mixed vinegar & soy sauces topped with ginger, perhaps some chilli. You have to be careful with the hot soup inside the dumpling so I recommend to poke a hole, blow inside it lightly, then take it all in.

Spicy Pork Dumplings 7/10

This would be the alternative meal to twist the Xiao Long Bao’s taste. It’s chilli with some sweet tangy taste to it. I suggest to have this with noodles or rice, cause you can get sick of it after the 2nd one.

Peanut Noodles with sesame seeds 7/10

This seriously taste like peanut butter noodles with sesame seeds. It might look plain but very interesting.

Fried Rice 5/10

Lastly the fried rice, at this point, I was extremely full from the peanut noodles & xiao long bao not the method the dumplings with spicy sauce, this seriously feels like an asian wedding without the fish. I wonder why they serve the fish at the end when everyone are mostly full or extremely drunk? The fried rice tasted like any other fried rice i’ve eaten, nothing too special. I think it’s only a back up order for those who are still hungry.

Yet again, another success at Din Tai fung for me, each time I have steamed dumpling cravings, I’ll check the line at Din Tai Fung before I end up somewhere else. If you have a group 6+, make sure you make reservations.
