10 Years ago, Canley Heights was an ordinary town with Fish & Chips, Red Rooster, Videos Stores and Bakeries. Now, it’s like a small strip filled with all these wonderful restaurants on every corner. I’m amazed how much has changed but more stun with all the Thai/Laos and Vietnamese restaurants located in one small town. I don’t even visit Cabramatta for dinner anymore, i’ll just head to Canley Heights.

I’m always a big fan of Thai/Laos food. So one random lunch time, I decided to try 3 Hippos. One of the first new Thai/Laos restaurant with some modern deco. Because it was lunch, I thought nibbling on afew dishes was my best option on a hot day.

Lemon Ice Tea. Scored 15/20

This Lemon ice tea wasn’t one of Lipton Lemon ice tea, It’s freshly made, and it was strong. I though it was very sweet but when the ice melts. Perfect!

Raw Beef Larb. Scored 17/20

Looks nasty, but it’s very tasty. It’s chopped raw beef mixed with lime juice, red onions, pounded roasted rice and roasted chilli flakes.

Grilled Ox Tongue . Scored 15/20

This is more a Laos dish, it’s the might ox tongue. It can be chewy if it’s cooked abit rare, and tough if it’s too cooked. But when it’s right, it melts in your mouth like a prime fillet steak.

Satay Chicken. Scored 13/20

If you’re visiting a Thai/Laos restaurants, you always need to the Satay chicken as an appetiser.

I enjoyed 3 hippos and would not mind visiting it again.
